Abia State government has declared Aro Ajatakri community stream in Ikwuano local government area contaminated and unfit for human consumption and use.
The commissioner for environment, Phelomon Ogbonna stated this in a statement issued yesterday, in Umuahia, the capital, which was seen by LEADERSHIP.
The statement advised the people to avoid the stream which is one of their major sources of water pending the outcome of tests and investigations about the stream and its environment.
Explaining that the test and investigations were being conducted by the ministry, he urged the people to be guided accordingly and ensure compliance.
