In order to confront the menace of insecurity frontally especially banditry, the Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, on Wednesday, hosted the rest of the North-West governors for the official unveiling of the State’s Community Protection Guards (CPG).

The graduation ceremony for the Community Protection Guards (Askarawan Zamfara) was held on at the Trade Fair Complex in the State capital of Gusau.

A statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that fellow governors from Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Sokoto States attended the graduation ceremony.

He noted that the Zamfara State Government was utilising a multi-faceted and multi-dimensional approach to address security challenges facing the State for now and in the future.

The event was chaired by a former military spy chief and one-time National Security Adviser (NSA), General Aliyu Muhammad Gusau (retired), who praised the Zamfara State government for establishing the Community Protection Guards.
