The Nigeria Agro Input Dealers Association (NAIDA) yesterday launched a compliance and monitoring team to tackle quack dealersĀ  in the distribution and sales of agricultural inputs across the country.

The team is expected to work with dedication to upholding standards and curbing malpractices within the industry in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to oversee compliance with regulations and address any misconduct promptly.

At the launch in Abuja, President of NAIDA, Kabir Fara, underscored the crucial role played by agro dealers in bridging the gap between input suppliers and farmers while working to ensure transparency and accountability in the supply.

He stressed NAIDA’s commitment to providing quality agricultural inputs to farmers nationwide with the mission of enhancing food security and improving the well-being of farmers.

Fara, who addressed concerns raised about the integrity of agro dealers, also acknowledged the challenges but reaffirmed NAIDA’s determination to self-regulate and collaborate with government agencies to ensure adherence to best practices.

Another pressing issue highlighted during the event was the scarcity of urea fertiliser in Nigerian markets due to the suspension of distribution by major producers.

The president called for urgent intervention from the ministry of agriculture and food security to address the situation and alleviate the impact on farmers.

President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Kabir Ibrahim charged the team to ensure effective implementation in addressing adulteration in agro inputs sales and distribution.
