The ongoing re-run election in Bauchi State is experiencing a massive turnout of voters, especially in Bauchi metropolis, the headquarters of the Local Government Area. This area is one of three with state constituencies where the election is being held.

The other two Local Government Areas, each with one state constituency where the re-run is ongoing, are Ningi and Katagum.

At the Shekal Primary School polling unit of Dawaki, numbered 006 in Bauchi metropolis and combining four of the 10 polling units in the LGA, the turnout of voters was so tumultuous that it overwhelmed Alh. Garba Mohammed Noma, a major PDP stakeholder in Bauchi.

Alh. Garba Mohammed Noma, a former state PDP chairman and a one-time speaker of the State House of Assembly, rated the voter turnout as far better than in the general election held last year, 2023. He expressed confidence that his party would undoubtedly sweep the polls.

Also speaking at the polling unit, Aminu Aliyu Garu, a member representing Bauchi federal constituency in the national assembly, and Hon. Dallami Ahmad Kawule, state commissioner of the Ministry of Housing and Environment, said they were very impressed by the security arrangement at the polling units and the orderly manner of voters.

At the Mararraban Liman Katagum in Bauchi Local Government Area at polling unit No 010, the electoral officer, John Tobias, told our reporter that the exercise is going on smoothly without any hitch.

John Tobias revealed that the polling units have 3,489 registered voters. A voter, Malam Sale Garba, after casting his vote, said he is satisfied with the arrangements made for the exercise.

The re-run elections in Bauchi State are being conducted for four state constituencies in three Local Government Areas of Bauchi, Ningi, and Katagum.

According to the re-run setup, the three Local Government Areas have 42 polling units in 16 wards or registration areas, with Bauchi having 4 wards and 10 polling units; Zungur Galambi has 4 wards and 12 polling units; Ningi and Katagum LGAs each have 4 wards and 10 polling units, respectively.
