CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Rivers United hope to earn vital point away as they confront Academica do Lobito of Angola on Sunday at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.
The Garden City landlords jetted out of the country Friday with some of their fans wishing them good luck. In their last five local matches Rivers United have two out of five matches against Enyimba and Doma United but have lost three against Rangers, Shooting Stars and Sporting Lagos heading into this Sunday’s Confederation cup tie.

The Nigerian side can even boast of better performance going into Sunday’s encounter compared to their opponents who have not done better in their last five matches in the Angolan league. They won only one match out of five, lone goal victory of Santa Rita and drew against Wiliete and losing the remaining three.
While wishing Rivers United good luck a few of their fans however expressed disappointment with the quality of T-shirt won by the players as they departed the country after the team had announced their departure via their X.
They consider Rivers United as one of the big clubs in the country, insisting that they deserve better branding.

@sleeknation said “This club needs good branding.this shows that our local league is not organised when a big club like
@RiversUnitedFC that are representing Nigeria in the continent dress like this it’s a shame to

@RiverUnitedFC pls do better” while @Affoo76 said This shirt is too poor for a big team like Rivers” Not all were concerned about branding and T-shirt however as @officerBala simply called for victory urging the team “Let’s go for the win”
