Our correspondent reports that the training which was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education with support from the World Bank is being implemented by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

In a chat with newsmen after the opening of the training held at Federal College of Education (FCET), Gombe yesterday, the programme manager, Abbati Dawakin Kudu Mohammed, from the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) said the event tagged: “IDEAS” was designed to help the youths develop their innovations and improve the effectiveness of their skills.

According to him, government jobs are no longer adequate for the teeming youth hence the idea to promote skills among the countrymen in order to make them self-employed.

He noted that the apprentices were drawn from various informal training centres where they learn different trades such as carpentry, welding and fabrication adding that the formal training by the NBTE would enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the occupations engaged by the trainees.
