The executive director of Women in Action for Development, Chinedu Bright Agomuo, has called on the federal government to mandate skills acquisition for all women to address hardship in the country.
Bright made the call while addressing journalists in Abuja yesterday, stating that women should be taught skills such as fish and snail farming and provided with conducive environments to thrive.

“We are using this medium to appeal to the federal government to empower more women. If they have empowered five million women, the number should increase to 20 million.
“When empowered, women contribute significantly to the welfare of the family, especially in situations like this.”

He emphasised the importance of financially empowering women and creating enabling environments for them to thrive with minimal stress.
“There should be data collection to enable the government to effectively plan for women and children. The national budget should align with birth and mortality rates.”
He noted that with current events, many young people have turned to criminal activities.
According to him, the intelligence community should receive adequate attention. He described the current situation as an intelligence failure, indicating that certain policies could lead to economic backlash and increased criminality.

“We call on all well-meaning Nigerians to refrain from the crisis as it would embolden criminals to commit more crimes. With the current hunger situation, any crisis in Nigeria would be highly volatile and difficult to control.
“We also urge politicians, financial experts, and others to assist in ensuring our country bounces back on its feet.”
