The presiding Judge in National Industrial Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, Justice Rabi Gwandu has adjourned the ruling in the leadership tussle within Trade Union Congress (TUC) to August 24 2022, expressing dismay over disobedience to court orders.

Gwandu, who expressed her displeasure over the flouting of her order earlier given against conducting the 12th Delegates Conference until the court case was over, said she wondered why her earlier order to put the election on hold was disobeyed by some of the affiliates union.

“It is surprising to note that some people treat court matters with levity. Despite my order against organising the election they still went ahead. The bottomline is why this problem prompts a move to control check-off dues, aside that, I wondered what other interests could push people to go against simple orders. We are talking of change. The change we are talking about should start with us.”

Speaking journalists after the adjournment, Comrade Emmanuel Jaja, Comrade Timothy Adewale, Comrade Eyam Abeng who spoke on behalf of ASSBIFI and PENGASSAN, the main unions in the succession conflicts said the election went ahead based on the clearance gotten from National Industrial Court in Abuja.

However, the affiliates of TUC said because they have full confidence in the judiciary, they believe that they will get justice.
