The theme of the event titled “Data In Government – Navigating the Path to Achieving Data Exchange”.

“This second edition was informed by the first conversation. During the first conversation when we focused on digital infrastructure which remain one mode we have to use to quickly accelerate the transformation of public services.

“We have decided that this one will focus on data exchange where we will start to have conversation on how we build the framework and standards to ensure that the data being collected by different MDAs can be plugged together.

“We can have that seamless integration of data and it can help us to better run the country as well. That is what this one is focused on.

“The idea is that from here on, over the next probably three to six months our goal is to have a framework in place through which we can actually have a platform for data exchange within Nigeria. (NAN)

The minister said with the data exchange, the government would have a bigger picture of what was happening in the country.

“The gains for government is that we have a big picture of what is happening in the country. It means that when we put on the data set that we are generating in different silos together.

“It is easier for any part of government to be able to see what is happening in the entire country.

“It also helps with policy making as well so that when we are making policies, we know that we are using factual data sets to make policies.

“The other benefit of it is to prevent the duplication because there are so many data sets that exist in silos.

“People are doing things based on different informations but when you have harmonised data service, it is easier to see what is happening in different parts of government.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the essence of the programme is to encourage tech people in the civil service to be part of this journey.

It is a visionary initiative to shape a brighter future for all Nigerians. By providing civil servants with essential tools and fostering a growth mindset, we strive for a positive impact beyond individual growth. (NAN)
