The initiative, titled: “Ounje Eko” food markets was inaugurated by Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with the aim of providing discounted prices of essential food items to residents across the state.

A statement issued by Prince Adewale Arogundade, on behalf of the chairman of The Mandate Movement expressed appreciation to the state government over the initiative, recognising its potential to alleviate the burden on citizens amidst economic strains.

Under the “Ounje Eko” programme, various staple food items will be available at discounted rates, including rice, beans, garri, tomatoes, and onions, among others.

Furthermore, to ensure transparency and prevent malpractices, the state government has introduced a voucher system, with selected payment solution providers and vendors overseeing the process.
