Hardship: Lagos Council Rolls Out Palliatives For Vulnerable Residents

The Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State has distributed 2,500 bags of rice to vulnerable residents in the council to cushion the effect of hardship in the land.

Chairman of the council, David Odunmbaku, disclosed this while giving an account of his stewardship in the last one year.

Odunmbaku said the 2,500 5kg bags of rice were distributed to the various wards to cushion the effect of the hardship, saying that the council ensured that the bags of rice got to those who needed them most.

He added that more of such palliatives would soon be distributed shortly, adding that the council had also provided 20 mini-buses for residents and students for easy commuting, with N1 million interest free loans for small business owners to boost ther trade.

On road infrastructure, Odunmbaku revealed that the LCDA had within one year rehabilitated over four inner roads including, Fadeyi, Paul Avenue, Otunla and Umar Saro while the council sought the assistance of the Lagos State  Ministry of Works in finding a lasting solution to the bad portion of road at Area G, Ogba currently earmarked for repairs.

In the area of health, the council boss disclosed that the Apata Primary Health Centre (PHC) was rehabilitated, while the Gbadamosi and Apata PHCs had been upgraded to offer 24 hours services with alternative power supply provided.

Odunmbaku added that the council donated N1 million to a kidney patient, Mrs Hassan Adebamijoko as well as unveiled the Agidingbi PHC.

“We organized free mammograms for women (40 years and above) at Ogba PHC in conjunction with Nigerian Physicians in America. We partnered with Eko Club of Atlanta on a free medical mission at NIJ for hundreds of beneficiaries.

We organized a Cervical Screening Project in conjunction with LASUTH at Ogba PHC,” he said.

 

 

 

Odunmbaku also said the council organised free surgical, medical missions and health insurance for 1,000 residents.

 

 

 

He further disclosed that the council distributed four patrol vans each to Ojodu, Ogba, Agege, Alausa and Pen Cinema Police Stations.

 

 

 

He said the council also rehabilitated Umaru Saro Drive in Oluwole Estate, Ogba; Tunji Olusanya Street, Ojodu, adding that in partnership with MTN, the council donated items worth N1 million to Life Fountain Orphanage at Omole Estate.

 

 

 

“We partnered with KENNOL on vocational training of 20 youths in mechanical, electrical and plumbing works. We engaged Flux Technology to train 32 youths and workers on UI/UX, Data Analytics and Digital Marketing. We organized a Workshop on Gender Based Violence for Women Development and we organized a three months mega training programme skills acquisition and business management for 250 residents,” he disclosed.
