Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has publicly voiced her objections to bestow the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award on the renowned crossdresser, Bobrisky, at a glamorous movie premiere event in Lagos.

The award, which came with a cash prize of N1 million, was presented over the weekend, but not without its share of controversy.

Bobrisky, a figure who frequently captures the public eye with his fashion choices and persona, was celebrated at the event, standing out as the best dressed among the female attendees.

However, the decision has been challenged by critics, among them is Amusa who took to her Instagram to respond to the award.

Sharing her views through a video message on her Instagram account, Amusa expressed her dismay, describing the award as a “mockery of the women present” at the event.

She articulated her frustration by questioning the criteria used by the judges, suggesting that the recognition of a crossdresser as the best dressed female undermined the efforts of all the other women who attended the premiere.

“I was at a colleague of mine premiere yesterday, they said the best dressers are to be picked; one female and one male best dresser. Don’t get me wrong, the winner could be anyone but definitely not a crossdresser. I mean, what’s wrong with us? I don’t understand it,” Amusa remarked.

Highlighting the perceived insult to the female attendees, Amusa added, “I cannot imagine the judges disrespecting every woman that was there. You had to pick a winner, a female best dressed and a male best dressed and you watered the efforts of all the women at the event by giving the best dressed female to a crossdresser. I don’t understand, what is wrong with us?”

The actress further suggested that if the intention was to honour crossdressers, a separate category should have been established, rather than “disrespecting women” by allocating the female-centric award to a crossdresser.
