Gombe Govt Approves N11.7bn For Roads Project

Gombe State Government under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya has approved the sum of 11.7 billion Naira for the construction of more than 80-kilometers of road network that spans across several local government areas of the state.
This is in continuation of the Network 1100 initiative, which aims to construct at least 100 kilometers of roads in each of the 11 LGAs of Gombe State.

The approved roads include:
1. 27.8 km road starting from Kyari Junction to Gadam through Yame in Kwami LGA, 26.5 km Bajoga-Munda-Wakaltu-Munda-Dukul-Gafara-Shani Road in Funakaye and Nafada LGAs,
29.4 km Wade-Garin Kushi-Kubu road in Yamaltu Deba LGA and the Road Network within the newly built College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gombe.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Ethical Orientation, Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde while briefing newsmen after the 37th SEC meeting presided over Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House.
Clarifying on the approved road projects, the commissioner revealed that 10.4 billion Naira was ratified for the construction of 77 km road network that spans across the 4 local government areas of the state.

He said “the approved roads are: 27 km road from Kyari Junction near Malam Sidi to Yame to Gadam in Kwami LGA which was awarded at 3.3 billion Naira, 26.5 km Bajoga-Wakaltu-Munda-Dukul-Gafara-Shani in Funakaye and Nafada LGAs which got the approval of 3.2 billion Naira. 3.9 billion was also approved for the construction of Wade-Garin Koshi-Kubu of 29.4 km in Yamaltu Deba LGA”, he clarified.
Engr Kallamu also revealed that the council approved the construction of road networks within the newly built School of Nursing and Midwifery amounting to 1.3 billion Naira.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education, Ass. Prof. Aishatu Umar Maigari said the council approved the sum of 545 million, 492 thousand, 175 Naira for the payment of registration fees for Senior Secondary Certificte Examinations.
She said “the approval covers 19,840 students of Gombe State spread across 151 schools. Our of this number, 18, 288 students are sitting for WAEC, 1243 students NABTEB and 309 are students sitting for NBAIS.
Maigari said the approval is a testament to Governor Inuwa’s concern towards development of education and building a solid future for the younger generation.

She explained that, the government has been paying SSCE for Gombe State students. “When this government came on board in 2019, only 22% of the students got at least 5 credits including Mathematics and English. But the government was able to increase the performance to 67.5% in 2023”, she noted.

Approval was also given for the construction of office complexes and accommodations for the state’s security task force, known as ‘Operation Hattara’ to strengthen security operations in the state.

Remarking on the approval made for the security outfits, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Abdullahi Bello appreciated the governor’s concern and his sincere commitment to support security operations in the state.

“This office and accommodation will go along way in complementing our activities which center on protection of lives and property of the people”, he said.
