President Bola Tinubu yesterday joined Muslim faithful to observe Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Dodan Barracks Praying Ground in Ikoyi, Lagos, saying Nigerians must imbibe religious tolerance.

Tinubu, who was accompanied by top government functionaries to the Eid, arrived at there at 10.02 a.m.
The president, who spoke through Lagos State deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, stressed the need for Muslims to be tolerant and empathetic toward one another.

He said if the people could sustain good behaviour throughout the Ramadan period, it behooves on them to be of good conduct and behaviour after the period.

Tinubu said, “We should sustain the good behavior, though Ramadan is over; We have no business fighting one another; We should have religious harmony. The empathy and love that we showed during the Ramadan, must continue; Ramadan has gone, good behaviour is not gone.

“Let us give to the needy. Always show charity. May Almighty Allah guide us and protect Nigeria,” he said.
The grand chief imam of Lagos, Sheik Sulaiman Abou Nolla, who led the prayer session, said fasting has great blessings and is one of the five pillars of Islam.
