From information gathered, the gunmen invaded the community through the hilly part that links the area to Mpape, another community within the FCT.

It was gathered that the bandits arrived at a Mango tree in an area known as New Jerusalem in Duste Makaranta at about 8pm on Saturday.

A resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, said those living in the area could not sleep till daybreak as a result of fear.

“From what we heard, the kidnappers came to this community at around 8pm. One woman, three men and two boys were kidnapped. One of the boys, who is three-year-old, was found in the bush today (Sunday) morning,” the source said.

The source further said that tragically, the mother of the abducted boys endured further anguish as she was subjected to physical assault by the kidnappers, hence she had been hospitalised for medical treatment at a nearby hospital for her injuries.

“The mother of the two boys that were among those kidnapped was beaten by the kidnappers. She is currently at the hospital receiving treatment.”

The attack has sent shockwaves through the Dutse community and raised concerns about the deteriorating insecurity plaguing the area.

The residents are now calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of the abducted persons.
