To mark the 25th anniversary of its Foundation, Schneider Electric, leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, in partnership with Ashoka, launches a global campaign call for youth applications, titled ‘Youth Innovation For A Sustainable Future’, to celebrate and award impactful, innovative youth projects committed to building a fairer, low-carbon society.

In recent times where social and environmental challenges are more widespread and more urgent than ever, the Schneider Electric Foundation supports innovative and forward-looking projects to give as many people as possible the energy they need to succeed. The goal of the Foundation is to play a part in creating a fairer, less carbon-intensive society that gives future generations the tools to transform our world.

Devan Pillay, Cluster President, Anglophone Africa, Schneider Electric said, “We are honoured and excited to form part of the Schneider Electric Foundation’s milestone 25th year anniversary. Through the Foundation’s ongoing, impactful initiatives such as the Energy Technical Training and New Skills for the Future and Innovation programmes, the youth is encouraged to work towards a sustainable future for all; it is a tremendous and admirable goal, and we look forward to the entries from the African continent.”

Following his statement, Ajibola Akindele, Country President, Schneider Electric, spoke on Nigerian youths driving sustainable energy transition. “Positive initiatives to tackle growing social and environmental challenges are driven by young people from around the world. In Nigeria, we have witnessed a note-worthy surge of youth driving these social and environmental projects. At Schneider Electric, we are enthusiastic about supporting our youths as they lead energy transition.” he said.

The call for applications ‘Youth Innovation For A Sustainable Future’ with Ashoka’s program Changemaker Companies focuses on professional engagement and a fair transition, with the aim to select 25 of the most impactful innovative youth projects across all five continents (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East). In each continent, the best project will receive the first prize of 30k euros, the second 20k euros, the third and the fourth 10k euros each and the last spot will receive an amount of 5k euros. Finally, out of the 25 projects, one will receive a special prize of “Youth Innovation Champion” of 50k euros prize in total during the COP29 climate summit in Bakou, Azerbaïdjan.
