Korea Trains 20 Immigration Officers

The government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) through its grant aid agency (KOICA) Korea International Cooperation Agency has successfully completed a 5-day intensive online training program for the Nigeria Immigration Service NIS.

The KOICA country director, Mr. Son Sungil said the training was an offshoot of a three year Memorandum of Understanding signed between the KOICA and NIS for greater cooperation in capacity building of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

 

He said the agreement launched the program commencement, with annual participation of 20 immigration personnel, making it 60 immigration personnel to be trained at the end of the program.

Sungil stated that the Korean government through KOICA would continue its partnership with the government of Nigeria to offer assistance in the effort to enhance the immigration services in Nigeria.
The KOICA country director reiterated the importance of an effective migration and border management system to the nation’s security and development.
He said that coherent policies, plans and management strategies are necessary to build a sustainable immigration operation system. It is to this end that the Republic of Korea designed the 3 years program to support NIS achieve its mandate.
