2 Die After Taking Concoction At Ondo Festival

Two persons have reportedly died after drinking native liquid substances during the yearly age group festival in Ipe, Akoko South East local government area of Ondo State.

At the festival tagged: “Ibogbel”, another youth identified as Adu Johnson, reportedly went into a coma after drinking the same concoction as others.

LEADERSHIP gathered from sources that Adu is at present on admission at an undisclosed hospital.

It was also gathered that one of the victims came for the festival from Abuja while others resided in the community.

Those who were said to have lost their lives included Ojulewa Alex and Alonge Samuel.

According to one of the sources, the native concoction was said to have been prepared for the festival by one of the villagers identified as Ojulewa, a brother to one of the victims.

It was further learnt that Ojulewa and the deceased drank the concoction and a few hours later collapsed during the ceremony.

The trio reportedly started vomiting while the ceremony was on and later died.

The police spokesperson in the state, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the death of the two youths after consuming a native concoction during the yearly festival.
