He spoke during a visit to assess the university’s facilities at the weekend.

The minister underscored the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure projects in the Ministry of Transportation.

Alkali’s statement through his special assistant media and publicity, Umar Alkali Jibril, highlighted the concerted efforts that led to the university’s inclusion among eligible tertiary institutions for TETFund support.

The minister’s inspection tour, which encompassed the University of Transportation, Daura, identified infrastructural gaps, prompting collaborative efforts with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education, National Universities Commission, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, and TETFund.

“We have approached TETFund. The university has fulfilled all TETFund requirements, ensuring its enlistment for support in the forthcoming year, facilitating further infrastructure development for the university’s growth,” Alkali stated.

Alkali also disclosed the university’s absence from the Federal Government’s 2023 appropriation, yet assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sanctioned its inclusion in the 2024 budget.

Furthermore, Alkali acknowledged the pivotal role of the National Universities Commission in appointing Ahmadu Bello University as a mentor institution, enabling the University of Transportation, Daura, to prepare for admissions in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Expressing optimism, Alkali emphasised the university’s potential to meet its lofty expectations, likening its journey to a gradual but determined stride towards success.

The minister’s visit was warmly received by the University of Transportation, Daura’s vice chancellor, Professor Umar Adam, alongside management staff and representatives of the Daura Emirate’s traditional leadership.
