Deputy governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdulsalam, has dismissed claims of security threat in the state.

He asserted yesterday that “there is no physical security threat in Kano State.”

Abdulsalam made the statement after he opened the 2024 Law Week Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Kano.

He said, “Kano is among the safest places in this country if not the safest in the entire West African region.

“People should disabuse their minds of feeling very safe to come to Kano for whatever business or developmental activity. We don’t have any physical security threat at all in Kano.

“The saying that Kano is coming from red to amber is not a fair treatment for the state at all. Kano is green.

“This is misinformation and people should disabuse their minds of it by spreading the fact that Kano is safe. Wherever you go let people know that Kano is indeed safe,” he said.

The deputy governor expressed concern over the wrong information passed to groups and individuals concerning insecurity in Kano that had led to the cancellation of important developmental events and programmes scheduled to take place in the state.

Earlier, in her goodwill message, the chief justice of Kano State, Dije Abdu Aboki, complained to the NBA about how events that will help develop the legal profession in the state are canceled and moved to other states under the pretext that Kano is an amber state.

She stated that Kano is indeed peaceful and should not be treated as such. It is on this matter that the deputy governor responded and called on the NBA to take the message out there that Kano is not an amber state.
