The items donated include bags of rice, cartons of noodles and spaghetti, crates of soft drinks, snacks, cartons of groundnut oil, diapers and undisclosed amount of money.

Speaking during the visits, the first lady explained that the gesture was part of her efforts to ameliorate the challenges of motherless babies, the less privileged and the needy in the state.

Represented by the wife of the deputy governor, Mrs Adaeze Emetu, the first lady assured that the administration of her husband was fully committed to improving the welfare of the people of the state in general.

In her remarks, the special assistant to the governor on Vulnerable Groups, Mrs Ifeoma Thomas, noted that the gestures reflected Mrs Otti’s concern for the welfare of the vulnerable.

She, therefore, encouraged the proprietors and caregivers at the homes to continue with their service to God and humanity, assuring them that God will reward them accordingly and bountifully.

In their separate remarks, the matrons of the Companionate Home, Rev Sister Maria Ogbonna, and Mrs Felicia Martins of So-said Charity Home thanked Mrs Otti for the gesture, promising to judiciously use the items donated.
