Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has rewarded her former grassroots coach, Emmanuel Osahon Orobosa of FC Robo International, with a brand-new Toyota Highlander in recognition of his contribution to her football career.
FC Robo disclosed the gesture in a statement, praising the Nigerian international for remembering those who helped nurture her talent before she rose to become one of Africa’s most decorated female footballers.
Orobosa, founder, chairman and head coach of FC Robo International, played a significant role in developing Oshoala’s football career from her teenage years, having supported her progress since 2009.
The club described the vehicle presentation as a demonstration of gratitude and loyalty, noting that the forward had maintained her connection with the people who helped shape her career despite achieving international success.
“Your presentation of a Toyota Highlander to Coach Osahon is a beautiful demonstration of gratitude and a reminder that you have not forgotten the people who played important roles in your journey,” the statement said.
FC Robo recalled that Orobosa provided guidance and a supportive environment for Oshoala during her formative years, helping her pursue her football ambitions despite the challenges she faced.
“Since your teenage days in 2009, when you began attracting attention with your football talent, Coach Osahon has been part of your growth, providing guidance, support and an environment to nurture your dreams,” the club added.
The club also recalled Oshoala’s previous support, particularly her donation of a bus during her early years in Europe, describing the latest gesture as further evidence of her commitment to the grassroots club.
According to FC Robo, such gestures go beyond their material value, reflecting the forward’s appreciation of her roots and the people who contributed to her development.
Oshoala’s relationship with Orobosa dates back to a period when she faced difficulties securing her family’s approval to pursue football professionally.
The 31-year-old has since established herself as one of Nigeria’s most successful female footballers, winning multiple African Women’s Player of the Year awards and representing the Super Falcons at several major international competitions.
Her latest gesture has again highlighted the importance of grassroots coaches in identifying and nurturing talents who go on to achieve success at the highest level.
