Residents of Ajegunle village in Afijio local government area of Oyo State are now living in fear and apprehension following the abduction of two brothers from the same family by suspected kidnappers.
The family, which relocated to the village just two months ago from Bode Saadu in Kwara State, was still reeling from the shock of last week’s incident.
The father of the victims, Alhaji Muhammadu Jayun, said his sons, Bello Jayun and his younger brother, were abducted by the suspected kidnappers.
However, he said Bello managed to escape from the clutches of the bandits with injuries.
According to him, the family is still awaiting news about the fate of the younger brother, as the suspected kidnappers have not contacted them to demand a ransom or provide any information about his whereabouts.
The commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Oyo State, Comrade Sunday Olajide, confirmed the incident and assured that his men were working closely with the police to investigate the matter.
He, however, noted that the escaped victim, Bello, was still recovering from the shock of the incident and needed time to provide more details about the abduction.
“The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing fear and uncertainty about their safety.
“The abduction of the two brothers has raised concerns about the rising incidence of kidnapping in the area and the need for increased security measures to protect lives and property.
“As the search for the missing brother continues, the family and the community remain in a state of anxiety, hoping for a swift resolution to the crisis,” he added.
