CapitalSage Holdings has inaugurated its new global headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State, as Governor Seyi Makinde commended the group’s decade-long business growth and pledged continued government support for its job creation and economic development efforts.
The inauguration, held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, formed part of activities marking the company’s 10th anniversary, celebrating its transformation from a small entrepreneurial venture into a diversified business group with interests across several sectors and international markets.
The ceremony attracted Makinde, prominent traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, the Olubadan of Ibadan and the Soun of Ogbomoso, alongside other traditional chiefs, board members, business partners, customers, employees and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Makinde praised the group for its entrepreneurial journey, noting that private enterprise, innovation and productive investment remained essential to unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential.
He said the country’s natural resources alone could not guarantee prosperity without the capacity to develop businesses, build skills, acquire knowledge and expand production.
“Somebody has to take the risk on behalf of the people, so John Alamu and team, I congratulate you. I thank you for taking the risk on our behalf,” the governor said.
Makinde also welcomed the decision to locate the headquarters of the expanding business group in Ibadan, assuring the company of his administration’s continued support.
He disclosed that CapitalSage Holdings had grown to comprise about 20 companies, all headquartered in Oyo State, describing the development as an opportunity to deepen employment generation and stimulate economic activities.
“When I was looking at your profile, I saw that you now have about 20 companies in the group. And those 20 companies are headquartered here. I can assure you that we will continue to give our support as a government because we want you to continue to provide jobs and grow the economy of Oyo State,” he said.
Founded by John Alamu, the group’s founder and Group Managing Director, with an initial capital of ₦100,000, CapitalSage Holdings has expanded over the past decade into a diversified business organisation with interests in financial services and technology, agriculture and food processing, manufacturing, healthcare and cross-border payment solutions.
The new headquarters represents a major milestone in the group’s development, reinforcing its ambition to build globally competitive businesses from Nigeria while maintaining its operational roots in Ibadan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Alamu said the company’s international ambitions would remain anchored in its Nigerian origins, adding that its next phase of growth would prioritise sustainable enterprise and long-term economic impact.
“A business can have global ambitions without abandoning its roots. From Ibadan, we can build for Nigeria. From Nigeria, we can build for Africa. And from Africa, we can build for the world. That is what we are doing,” he said.
Reflecting on the company’s founding principles and future direction, Alamu said CapitalSage Holdings was established on the belief that challenges could be converted into viable business opportunities.
“We began ten years ago with conviction. The conviction that problems could become businesses. So, for us, the next ten years cannot simply be about becoming bigger. They must be about becoming stronger, more enduring and more consequential. We want to build businesses that a generation after us can inherit, improve and take further,” he said.
The anniversary programme featured the official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, goodwill messages from dignitaries and the group’s leadership, as well as presentations showcasing businesses within the CapitalSage portfolio.
As part of the celebrations, the group is hosting a three-day public exhibition from October 29 to 31, 2026, at CapitalSage House, Kenneth Dike, Secretariat Road, Ibadan.
The exhibition, which opens daily at 10 a.m., will enable visitors to explore participating businesses, learn about their products and services, and interact directly with representatives of the group’s companies.
As CapitalSage Holdings enters its second decade, the company said it would focus on expanding its operations, strengthening partnerships and contributing to economic development through enterprise, innovation and job creation.
