Ooni Hosts Monarchs, Urges Unity Of Nigeria

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja ll has stressed the need for unity across the country and particularly in Yoruba land.

He commended traditional rulers nationwide for their efforts in ensuring that the country remains united for the betterment of all.

Ooni Ogunwusi while hosting two prominent monarchs from Oyo State, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, Orumogege III and the Aseyin of Iseyin kingdom in Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, Adeyeri III Ajirotutu I, expressed readiness to join hands with the monarchs in ensuring peace and tranquility across Yorubaland.

A statement by  the director of media and public affairs, Ooni’s palace. Otunba Moses Olafare stated that Ooni Ogunwusi described the new Soun of Ogbomoso who had last week visited him as a king divinely made by the Almighty God.

He added that Ogbomoso is a significant ancient city in Yoruba with immeasurable economic and historical significance.

Also welcoming the Aseyin of Iseyin Kingdom, Ooni Ogunwusi implored him to be magnanimous in victory and work for peace, development, and growth in the kingdom.

 

Ooni Ogunwusi confirmed Iseyin and Ile-Ife’s relationship as very cordial and mutually beneficial.

 

In their separate responses, Oba Ghandi Olaoye described Ooni Ogunwusi as a rallying point for all monarchs, particularly those of Yoruba origin.

 

Also, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, described his visit as a historic homage paid by a son to his father, reaffirming a continued loyalty to the Ooni, a gesture which he said was institutionalised by his predecessor, Oba AbdulGaniy Adekunle Oloogunebi
