Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the state Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC), security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that the forthcoming local government council elections scheduled for August 31 are free and fair.

It also warned that any statement from certain quarters or a high-placed person seeking to preempt the election outcome will not be accepted.

The state PDP secretary, Abubakar Bawa Kalgo (ABK), who gave the warning in a statement he signed yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, said the warning came on the heels of the press release recently issued, which was credited to the deputy governor of Kebbi State dated June 6 which the deputy governor was quoted as saying, “We are fully mobilised to maintain our status of Kebbi State as APC absolute majority entity, we will secure victory for all the chairmanship seats and councillorship in the forthcoming local government elections in the state scheduled for August this year.”

According to Kalgo, the statement is misleading and an attempt to pre-empt the outcome of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Therefore, the PDP scribe called on the state electoral commission, security agencies, and political parties to be vigilant during the election. Kalgo also urged PDP supporters to remain calm and focused.
