Birmingham City University (BCU), United Kingdom, has collaborated with industry experts to develop a curriculum that equips Nigerian students with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in today’s digital landscape.

Disclosing this at a media briefing in Lagos, BCU showcased the opportunities available to Nigerian students seeking international education, especially in the UK, highlighting the benefits of choosing BCU over other institutions.

The college academic lead, College and Transnational Education, College of Life Science, Dr. Olatunde Aremu, said his journey in the UK as a Nigerian academic has been very fruitful because of his Nigerian heritage, which has helped him.

He said, “If I have to be honest, being in Birmingham has helped me in several ways because of the nature of the city. Birmingham is a multicultural city, making it easier for me to network with my Nigerian people. From students to professionals who are working in different areas.

“I’ve spent almost 10 years at BCU, where we have a growing community of Nigerian and African academics, including associate professors and the Vice Chancellor, Professor David Mba. We’re proud to have role models in UK academia.”

The student eventually became a project manager without needing to apply for a post-graduation position.

The head of the College of Business, BCU, Dr Tom Domboka, emphasised the importance of preparing students for the modern workforce. “We recognised the need to move away from traditional teaching methods and adapt to the demands of the 21st Century,” he explained.

On her part, international recruitment officer Titobi Oshinyimika stated that Birmingham City University (BCU) is attracting a diverse group of students from across the globe thanks to its unique blend of cosmopolitan flair, affordability, and career opportunities.
