Safehouse Productions, a creative hub for the Abuja creative community, after is relocating from its initial space at A4 David Ejoor Crescent, Adisa Estate, Durumi, after 12 years.

Founded by screenwriter and film director, Emil Garuba and his creative partner, film writer and friend, Ishaya Bako, the hub has been a sanctuary for the city’s creatives, an incubator for numerous start-ups and productions, and birthed ideas that materialized into critically acclaimed projects like Road To Yesterday, Lionheart, and 4thRepublic.

The move stemmed from recent changes in the formerly serene environment rendering it unconducive.
“I felt the external environment had changed due to several factors, one of them being the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. It just wasn’t the same conducive area anymore, and for a creative that kind of peace is priceless.”

Taking the change in stride, Garuba believes it is inevitable and meant for growth, which is all the better for the hub.

“It’s time for Safehouse to evolve and adapt, paving the way for new opportunities and fresh inspiration.”
And while the new location hasn’t been finalized, Garuba assures creatives that the space will bring new energy and motivation to amplify their unique vision and stories.

“Ishaya and I have a lot of gestating projects that we weren’t able to actualize these past few years but we plan on getting started on those as soon as we can.”

“We will continue to serve as a creative hub, fostering innovation and collaboration. We are committed to maintaining our legacy of supporting groundbreaking projects and nurturing creative talents. This transition marks a new chapter, and we are excited about the opportunities it will bring.

“So, expect some fresh and edgy content from Safehouse Productions in the near future,” said Garuba.
