Oyo State government has expressed dismay over the persistent construction of illegal shops and shanties in unauthorized places, urging the owners to remove the structures with immediate effect.
The commissioner for environment and natural resource, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola condemned the act during an official monitoring of Lagelu and Egbeda Local Government Areas.

He frowned at the rate at which illegal structures sprang up in unauthorized places, saying it is alarming.
The commissioner directed staff of the ministry to immediately issue evacuation notices to erring owners along Carlton Gate Estate, Chief Kolapo Isola Estate through Akobo Ojurin, Iyana Church, in Ibadan.
The directive had consequently been carried out, as the quit notices have been handed over to the illegal shops and shanties owners in the area.

In another development building contractors in the Pacesetter State have been told, to henceforth, dissuade them from depositing their construction tools and materials on major roads in the metropolis.
Mogbonjubola, during the official monitoring, around Idi-arere in Ibadan metropolis, discovered the persistence trend, where traffic on major roads are being distorted, as a result of construction materials and equipment, deposited and covering it.

He condemned the acts and expressed Oyo State Government’s disposition against the ugly trend.

“Government is spending huge amounts of money constructing roads and drainages…. we would not fold our arms, watching the notable legacies in our environment to be eroded by nonchalant attitudes of individuals or groups, in the name of whatever construction”, he said.
