National chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has said he is optimistic that the party as a credible alternative would win the 2027 general elections.

He said the change had become necessary because the current leaders had abandoned their responsibilities and were living in luxury while the people were battling with insecurity, hunger and poverty.

“We all live in this country. The leaders have not lived up to the realities on the ground. The people are frustrated and showing many signs of discouragement over the situation,” he said.

Nwosu spoke in Umuahia, the Abia State capital while addressing members of the party after commissioning its Global Campus and Youth Development Centre.

The chairman added that the centre would serve as the secretariat of the state chapter of the party and for training and nurturing youths in many skills and future political leadership.

Describing the party as the most people-oriented and the transitional party of the country, he added that the victory would coincide with its 20th anniversary.

“Our flag will be mounted in Aso Rock and many Government Houses. It will be held by over 80 per cent of members of both the state and National Assemblies,” he said.

The South East national vice chairman of the party, Chilos Godsent in his remarks, underlined the need for its comprehensive overhaul and financing to position it for the challenges ahead.

Speaking after receiving the flag, the new chapter chairman, Iyke Nwoke, said the time for change had arrived in the state and commended Nwosu for his commitment to the development of the party.

“You stood strongly by the side of our candidates in 2023 to ensure they won. You have always made sure that the party fielded candidates in every election in the state,” he added.
