Ibrahim Wins 2024 KGC Heineken Golf Tourney

Umar Ibrahim of Wuyep Lakeside Golf Club emerged champion of the 2024 Kaduna Golf Club (KGC) Heineken Golf Tournament with overall best nett of 58.

In the men’s category 1 handicap 0-14, Jamilu Ibrahim from KGC won the best gross with 75, while Jerry Linus from KGC with 71 points came runners up just as Salisu Abba of NDA Golf Club won the best nett with 71 points after count back on 5 others.

In the men’s category 2 handicap 14-28, Birma DAUDA with 91 points after count back on one other emerged best gross, as Udeh Obiora with 72 points after count back on one other emerged runners up nett while Inoo Lee with 72 points after count back on two others emerged best nett.

In the veterans handicap Category, Hassan Adamu, George Odog and AG Haruna all from KGC emerged best gross, runners up nett and best nett with 82, 75, and 73 respectively .

Vera David, Maryam Abdul Salam and Justina Gideon all from KGC emerged best gross, runners up nett,best nett with 94, 74 and 93 points respectively in the ladies category handicap 0-36.

Isaac Umar picked the prize for the longest drive on hole 7 in the men category while Justina Gideon picked for the ladies category .

Jerry Linus and Dorcas Daniel picked the prize for the nearest to pin on Hole 6 for the men and ladies category respectively.

The overall winner of the tournament Ibrahim commended Nigeria Breweries organizers of the Heineken Golf Tournament and wished them well in business.

Various gift prizes were presented to all the winners while all the participants wined and dined at the end of the competition.

Speaking at the tournament, Mr Kabir Kasim, corporate affairs manager, Nigerian Brewery. Kaduna while congratulating all the.wunnera said the Heineken competition has been since 1974 and have been in the project for more than 40 years, stressing  that it is aside being part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) it is also to appreciate and celebrate the golfers around the north.

“This year we are having 120 participants, last year we had 200. and in the last two years we had 250, this is because of logistics issues. Next year we are planning to scale up to accommodate as much as 500, people are really appreciating it” he disclosed .

He said the tournament afforded the golfers to come.together and interact, adding that everyone is a winner because the players had the opportunity to connect and interface with each other.

“For golf we want to look at where we are going and connect with key stakeholders to interface and bring unity”.
