Agric Financing: 300 Yobe Farmer Clusters Eye Bumper Harvest

A total of at least 300 clusters of farmers from across different local government areas of Yobe State are to benefit from high yield this cropping season over support from the Yobe Microfinance Bank, the Managing Director, Dr Sherriff Al-Muhajjir has said.

The MD who was speaking after an assessment tour of the farms of the benefiting communities said the bank decided to initiate the programme with a view to complementing the efforts of Governor Mai Mala Buni on food security through agricultural financing.

Al-Muhajjir, who stated that the farms visited showed promising bumper harvest stated that the bank believed that the investment of governor Buni in agricultural development is something that should be complemented through whatever positive initiative for better Yobe.

“Our recent initiative to support farmers in Yobe has brought hope to 300 clusters of farmers in the pilot project, Yobe Microfinance bank has provided the farmers with sharecropping agricultural financing to cultivate sorghum and millet.

“This innovative approach has not only increased food production but also empowered local farmers, promoting economic growth and self-sufficiency in the region.

“The financing model allows farmers to access capital, technology, and markets, while also sharing risks and rewards with investors. This collaborative approach has led to an increased crop yields and quality, improved livelihoods for farmers and their families, enhanced food security in the region, and boosted economic activity and job creation.

“This success story showcases the potential of sharecropping agricultural financing in transforming the agricultural sector in Yobe State and beyond,” the MD disclosed.
