They will compete with 12 other finalists for podium finishes.

Ese Brume, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, jumped 6.76m to book her place in the final, while Ruth Usoro and Prestina Ochonogor jumped 6.68m and 6.65m respectively to reach the final on Tuesday.

This is the first time three Nigerians will qualify for an event’s final at the Olympics.

Brume, a two-time medalist at the world athletics championship and also a five-time African junior champion, was in danger of not reaching the final after struggling initially but the Nigerian international came up big in her last jump to seal an automatic qualification for the final of women’s long jump event at the Games.
