Plateau State government has distributed over 100 motorcycles, raincoats and rain boots to various security agencies in the state to tackle insecurity.

The distribution of motorcycles is part of the state government’s efforts to enhance security and protect farmers and law-abiding citizens.

Governor Mutfwang, while distributing the motorcycles yesterday in Jos, said they were specifically meant for surveillance and access to areas where vehicles cannot reach.

“We have procured the first batch of motorcycles for surveillance. This is particularly important to ensure that the security forces give cover to our farmers.

“We have trusted God that our farmers will return to the farm this year, and many of them have done so. The activities of bandits have not seized, but with these motorcycles, they will be able to enter every nook and cranny of the state,” he said.

He emphasised that motorcycles are not meant for use in towns and will be seized if found being used for that purpose.

The governor noted that the state has made significant strides in identifying criminals’ hiding places and entry points.

He added that massive investments have been made in technology, which will be unveiled soon.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) appreciated the state government for the gesture and promised that farmers would be adequately protected in their farms.

The NSCDC chief added that the distribution of motorcycles, raincoats and rain boots is a significant step towards addressing the security challenges in Plateau State.

“The motorcycles will enable security agencies to respond quickly to distress calls and patrol areas that were previously inaccessible. The raincoats and rain boots will also protect security personnel from these elements while on duty.
