Nigeria’s lone competitor in the taekwondo competition of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Elizabeth Anyanacho, yesterday crashed out in the opening bout of her event.

Anyanacho who was in the women’s -67 kilogramme category lost 0-2 in the round of 16 fight to Song Jie of China at the Grand Palais.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both fighters were level at 3-3 in the bout’s opening round.

Song however tore away from her with a score of 8-2 in the second round to win the pairing and advance to the quarter-finals.

NAN reports that Anyanacho’s loss means that Team Nigeria’s hopes of a medal from the sport has again ended.
