No fewer than 160 women and youths from Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency of Delta state have been empowered with various skills and start up kits by the member.
The two day acquisition programme was sponsored by Hon.Ngozi Lawrence Okolie, representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and coordinated by the Federal College of Veterinary and Medical Laboratory Technology, Vom in conjunction with ICE-LIGNE Synergy Limited.
The Member represented by, Comrade Peter Onyeisi Marvelous said the empowerment was informed by the need make the beneficiaries self sufficient.
He said “Firstly, it brought some of the people of Aniocha/ oshimili federal constituency together, knowing themselves ,ward, and town
“Secondly, it impacted many lessons and made some changes into the lives of the 290 participants teaching them a lot on skills ”
He added that “beneficiaries were also given a startup token of #50,000 each, which is enough for someone to start up on what skills they may have learnt, which he believed will reduce unemployment of some youths and women in Aniocha/ oshimili federal constituency.”
One of the beneficiaries, Isioma Nwosisi from Oshimili North expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
She said ” We thank the Hon Member for bringing this programme to us, it has helped me to learn so much. Yesterday we learnt how to bake 5 varieties of cakes including Fruit , vanilla, plain, banana and carrot cakes respectively.
“Infact before yesterday I didn’t know how to bake at all, but now I have learnt so much and today again we will still learn other things”.
“With the knowledge I have acquired, I will teach others and I also call on the hon. member to continue to support us so that more people will benefit from this” .
Roji Blessing from Aniocha North also commended the Member expressing the hope to learn other snacks making before the programme is ends.
Other beneficiaries called on the Hon Member not to relent in his efforts, assuring of their unwavering support in coming elections.
The beneficiaries were trained on various chemical works including Vaseline, liquid soap, oil, disinfectants and perfumery, while others were trained on various baking and snacks making skills including cakes, doughnuts and pies
