The Team Nigeria contingent for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games has arrived at the Games Village in Paris.

The 35-member team consists of 23 athletes, seven coaches and five medical personnel arrived at the Games Village on Thursday from Germany.

The secretary general of Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), Suleiman Isah, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Paris that the PCN president, Sunday Odebode, received the team at the games village.

“The Team Nigeria arrived at the games village today from Germany where they had been in camp for weeks preparing for the games.

“President of PCN and myself received the team, they are settling in now, and tomorrow they start training,” Isah told NAN.

Also, the head coach of Team Nigeria, Nasiru Sule, said that the team is in high spirits.

“The team was camped in Germany for two weeks ahead of the games.

“The atmosphere is calm and conducive, with all the athletes ready to explode and compete at the games,” Sule said.

The Atlanta Paralympics games bronze medalist in table tennis said that the athletes were well motivated to make the country proud.

“The athletes have been training well and vigorously too in order to make the country proud at the games.

“We are in high spirits and battle ready to go. The training has been going well as planned.

“I also want to thank the Paralympic Committee Nigeria leadership for their focus and planning toward the camping exercise and I am optimistic that we are coming home with medals.

“Though I can not say precisely how many or which colour, but with the determination of the athletes in camp, the future is bright for us,” he said.

NAN reports that Team Nigeria won ten medals at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Meanwhile, PCN announced Luritta Onye as the Flag Bearer, while Folashade Olufemi-Ayo is the Team Captain.

Chaperon is Mariam Wophil and General Chaperon is Prof. Bola Flourence Adeyanju. (NAN)
