First Lady Gives Grants To Benue Women

Wife of the president Mrs Oluremi Tinubu has empowered 1000 low oncome Benue women  through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Programme with N50, 000 each to enable them improve on their petty trading.

Performing the ceremony through a representative in Makurdi, Mrs Tinubu said she was aware of the challenges faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), especially petty traders, who form the backbone of the local economy.

Represented by the commissioner for women affairs and social development, Anna Itodo,  Tinubu said the programme would cost over N1. 8bn.

She said the grants were to assist female petty traders overcome some of their business challenges, expand their businesses, create more jobs, and contribute more robustly to the economy.

In his address Gov. Hyacinth Alia, represented by his deputy, Dr Sam Ode,  commended Benue women for voting him into office and their continuous support to his administration.
