Governor Buni Pledges Support For Red Cross Society

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has pledged his support for the Nigeria Red Cross Society, an organisation that promotes healthcare and respect for human life

The governor made the pledge when he received members of the organisation from the national headquarters on a courtesy visit at Government House, Damaturu, led by the secretary-general, Dr Abubakar Ahmad.

The governor was represented by his deputy, Hon Barde Gubana, who was inducted and decorated as a deputy patron of Yobe State branch of the Red Cross.

According to him, Red Cross is an organisation that does not rely on government contracts or assistance rather government only complements its efforts adding that their contribution to societal growth can never be underestimated.

He promised to provide all the necessary support to enable the organisation conduct its humanitarian aid smoothly, especially mobility and proper coordination with other humanitarian agencies.

In his response, the national legal adviser of the society, Barrister Usman Mohammed, told the governor that they were in the state to decorate the governor and his deputy as the state patron and deputy patron, respectively.

Similarly, the national body has also inducted the State Governing Board of the Red Cross Society, Yobe State branch with Justice Ibrahim Wakili as the chairman.

The legal adviser solicited the full support of the state and other agencies for humanitarian aid for proper coordination and management of disasters.

He further said that Yobe has over 2,000 volunteers as their work is to protect lives and provide relief and rescue during emergencies.
