Cereal Trading: Yobe Govt Distributes Standard Weighing ‘Mudus’ To Traders

As part of measures to promote fairness and justice during trading especially those that involve measurement, the Yobe State governor Hon Mai Mala Buni has launched the distribution of Standard Weighing Mudus to businessmen and women across the state.

Procured by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Re-orientation (MORAER) to businessmen the distribution of the Standard Weighing Mudus took place during a one day Sensitization of Chairmen of traders association and Sharia monitoring committees across the 17 local Government Areas held at the Emir’s palace Damaturu.

Buni, represented by the Deputy, Hon idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune has while speaking during the programme said the re-introduction of the weighing Mudus by the Yobe state government was meant to ensuring that people are not shortchanged in their day to day businesses and transactions  in markets.

According to statement from the Information Officer of the MORAER, Adamu Mohammed said Buni has during the flagging-off commended the Ministry of Religious affairs and Ethical Re-orientation for coming up with the laudable initiative adding that the efforts will promote honesty and adherence to Shari’a standards in the markets especially with the recent economic hardship.

The Commissioner of the ministry Alhaji Yusuf Umar has in a welcome address said they decided to initiate and embark on the initiative including the sensitization on the usage of the weighing Mudus to the state marketers and trades with a view to promote sanity in business transactions.

The commissioner said the measure became necessary following the current economic hardship and inflation being experienced by people of the state and the country as a whole.

He added “The administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni will not fold its arms watching the unfaithful and unholy behaviors in the name of making unblessed profit to the detriment of a common man.

“The local government areas Shari’a Monitoring Committees will monitor the implementation of adherence to the usage of the new weighing Mudus at the local level,” the commissioner disclosed.

On his part the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji shehu Hashim  II Ibn Al-Ameen El-kanemi, who is the royal father of the day commended the Yobe state government for re- introducing the usage of weighing Mudus in the state.

Highlight of the occasion was a presentation on the importance of using weighing scales accurately.
