The Super Eagles’ camp in Uyo is bubbling following the arrival of nine players in the capital city of Akwa Ibom State on the first day the camp officially opened yesterday ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic and Rwanda respectively.

The players who have reported include Captain William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Olisa Ndah, Taiwo Awoniyi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and goalkeeper Amas Obasogie

The players’ prompt arrival demonstrates a solid commitment to the team’s success and a willingness to put in the necessary hard work to achieve their goals after a disappointing start to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, where they are yet to register a victory in four games.

Austin Eguavoen, head of the NFF’s technical committee, has taken the reins as interim coach for these two matches, with Fidelis Ilechukwu of Enugu Rangers and Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars assisting him for the job. .
