Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has inaugurated a health facility built as special intervention civil-military cooperation project to honour the director, Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Center, Maj-Gen Obinna Ajunwa.
Lagbaja inaugurated the facility which is named after the late mother of Ajunwa, Nneoma Comfort Ajunwa at Ekeoba Oriendu Autonomous Commiunity in Umuahia North local government, Abia State.
“The idea of the projects came about in our bid to provide support to communities of Nigerian Army senior officers who, through dedication to duty and service to the nation, have risen to the enviable rank of major general,” he said.
In his remarks at the occasion, the state’s governor, Alex Otti thanked and commended the Army for the intervention which he said is in line with the health policy of his administration.
Represented by his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, he explained that the administration accords quality healthcare service, security of lives and property, and infrastructure development very high premium.
“It is indeed an exercise in futility if a government can provide the people their entire needs without commensurate security.” he asserted, saying the state would always welcome such intervention.
