Troops Nab 2 Suspected Female Collaborators, Kill 152 Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has revealed that troops on internal operations across the country destroyed two hideouts of prominent terrorist commanders and arrested two female collaborators responsible for negotiations with relatives of victims for ransom.

Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba who stated this in a statement added that troops also killed 152 terrorists, arrested 109 others and rescued 91 hostages.

 

Maj-Gen Buba said troops, during the week carried out operations against two prominent terrorist commanders and decimated their strongholds.

He identified the kingpins’ enclaves to include the one belonging to Sadiku in Tsora Hill in Safana local government area of Katsina State and that of Alhaji Yusuf at Yadi Forest in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State.

 

The director stated further that troops crippled crude oil theft activities through air interdiction at Bugama, Idama, Cawtorne Channel and Krakrama, all in Rivers State and prevented oil theft of valued at N795,683,395.00.

 

“Troops also apprehended 2 female terrorists’ collaborators responsible for negotiations with relatives of victims for ransom,” Buba said.

 

He added that the troops also recovered 183 weapons and 4,443 ammunition.

 

He gave the breakdown of recovered weapons to include 95 AK47 rifles, 35 locally fabricated guns, 76 dane guns, one GPMG, two PKT guns, 4,131 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 165 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 115 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 28 cartridges, 53 assorted arms and 197 assorted ammunition.

 

The troops also recovered 725,920 litres of stolen crude oil and 475,250 litres of illegally refined AGO, commonly called diesel, amongst other items.

 

He reiterated that the gallant men and women of the armed forces will continue to take pride in putting themselves in harm’s way to ensure the safety and security of citizens.

 

He therefore urged the citizens to constantly see the need to show support for troops to win the war.
