Stop Politicising Insecurity, Kwankwaso Appeals To Politicians

A leading political stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, has called on Nigerians to stop politicising the fight against insecurity being implemented by the federal government.

He made the call yesterday while addressing newsmen in Kano and praising the efforts of the Ministry of Defence in supporting the military relocation to Sokoto.

Kwankwaso expressed sadness over how some political jobbers engaged in causing a rift between the former Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle and the member representing Birnin Magaji/Kauran Namoda Federal Constituency, Aminu Sani Jaji.

He also praised the efforts of Matawalle, announcing a reward of N20 million to whoever gave fruitful information that would lead to the arrest of the bandits.
“Initially, people were condemning the defence ministry for inaction, and now that steps have been taken for the fight against the terrorists, the same people are condemning the ministry. This is very hypocritical.

“Those engaging in this act are beneficiaries of the terrorism that is killing our people out there. That is why they have turned the matter into politics.

“These terrorists are killing people, and the situation has gone bad; now that the ministry has taken steps towards dealing with the situation, to the extent that about 80 terrorists have been killed yesterday, why would any right-thinking person come out to condemn the action?

“I want to call on our people to please join hands together and support the efforts of the government in this fight against terrorism put in place by president Bola Tinubu.

“We should support the efforts of the defence ministry as well as the military to achieve the needful,” he appealed.

Kwankwaso called on northerners to avoid attacking themselves and unnecessarily setting themselves backwards.

He further alleged that those condemning these giant steps “Are only interested in blackmailing the president and painting him black so that they achieve their political interest in 2027, and this is not in the nation’s interest,” he added.
