Constituent Writes Petition Against Taraba Senator

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Donga local government area in the southern senatorial district of Taraba State, Hon. Disebe Bala, has petitioned against Sen. David Jimkuta, the senator representing Taraba South at the National Assembly and chairman of the Senate committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over Harassment, insults, and intimidation.

In a petition filed on the 4th September 2024 by a Jalingo legal firm and counsel to Bala, L.L. TAKDOK & Associates which was made available to journalists in Jalingo, it accused the senator of traumatising its client with insults, harassment and intimidation in which he can no longer go about his daily activities without fear of being harm, attacked, assaulted or even killed by persons he believes to be loyalists of the senator.

The petitioner further revealed that he has completed the arrangement to commence legal actions against the senator over the issues.

“Disebe Bala, hereinafter referred to as Our Client and on whose behalf and instruction we write this letter of complaint to your exalted office.

“The gravamen of our Client’s Complaint is predicated on these, That on the 24th of August, 2024, by exactly 8pm, Our Client was at Akeih Hotel, Kona Road in Jalingo, Taraba State where he was hanging out with his friends and Business Associates.

“That while our client was chatting with his friends and business associates on the aforementioned date and venue, the Senator representing Taraba south, Senator David Jimkuta walked in with his aides and political allies.

“That immediately the senator walked in and sighted our client, he shouted at him with the exact quoted words as follows, Stand up you useless photographer, didn’t you see me that you are sitting down? You are very stupid, you are a troublemaker and one of the elements causing trouble for All Progressives Congress in Taraba State.

“That amidst those flurries of accusations and insults, our Client maintained his cool to avoid causing breakdown of law and order and quietly left to his house.

“That our client finds Senator David Jimkuta’s remark as defamatory as he never at any point been used as an element to foment trouble for All ProgressiveS Congress in Taraba State.

“That right after the encounter with Senator David Jimkuta and his remarks on the night of 24th August, 2024, our client has continued to receive threatening calls and messages from persons suspected to be loyalists and allies of Senator David Jimkuta.

“That Our Client is now traumatised as he can no longer go about this daily activities without fear of been harm, attacked, assaulted or even killed by persons he believe to be loyalists of Senator David Jimkuta.
