Speaking at the flagging off of the distribution of the relief materials held at Buji local government of the state, governor Umar Namadi said the relief materials were aimed at reducing the hardship faced by displaced persons but not to compensate for their loss.

Governor Namadi noted that his government has been concerned about the situation of the flood victims since the beginning of the disaster and will continue to support them in collaboration with the federal government and other private and public sympathizers.

“today, we flagged off the distribution of a 10-kg bag of rice, maize, guinea corn, one cartoon of spaghetti, and N20,000 to each of the 15,775 flood victims’ households.

“As we commiserate the death of 36 people who died as a result of the flood and sympathise with those who lost their houses and farmland, we will continue to render more support to the victims to reduce the hardship they face”, Governor Namadi stated.
