No fewer than 2.2 million voters are expected to exercise their franchise at this Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, while 379,245 cannot participate because they did not collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed the data on voter cards’ collection in Edo State on Tuesday in Abuja.

A statement by INEC national commissioner and chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said the total number of registered voters in Edo State stood at 2,629,025. Of these, 2.2 million collected their PVCs, whereas 379,245 did not collect their cards.

He said any citizen interested in the 128-page document can visit INEC’s website to view the data.

He said: “There are 4,519 polling units in the State. Voting will take place in each unit. The detailed breakdown of the number of PVCs collected, as well as those uncollected in each unit, has been uploaded to our website for the guidance of political parties, candidates, and public information.”
