The Foundation emphasised the need for global collaboration in addressing ozone depletion and tackling climate change as part of the drive to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Ozone preservation plays a pivotal role in safeguarding ecosystems and human health by reducing harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation that contributes to environmental degradation and health risks. As part of its core focus on climate action, Sterling One Foundation continues to prioritise initiatives aimed at mitigating these risks and promoting sustainable development.

The CEO, Sterling One Foundation, Olapeju Ibekwe stressed the vital importance of ozone layer protection within the organisation’s overall climate action strategy.

She stated that “protecting the ozone layer is essential to securing the future health and well-being of both our environment and communities. Climate action is central to the Foundation’s mission, and we are fully committed to leading efforts that preserve our natural resources and promote sustainable practices for generations to come.”

Ibekwe further noted that efforts to protect the ozone layer are deeply interconnected with the global climate agenda.

“Climate action is a collective responsibility, and we must continue to work together across sectors to ensure that the steps we take today preserve the planet for tomorrow. We are committed to driving this action through our initiatives and partnerships, in alignment with global goals,” she added

The Foundation has partnered with key stakeholders across sectors to advance these goals and encourages individuals, communities, and organisations to join in collective action to protect the ozone layer and promote a sustainable future.

Sterling One Foundation is a registered non-profit focused on tackling the root causes of poverty in Nigeria, and Africa through interventions and social impact programmes across five critical sectors namely: climate action, health, education and youth development, gender equality and empowerment, and food security.

The Foundation’s programmes adopt a central theme of prioritising partnerships for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
