In a concerted effort to combat rising food insecurity in Lagos State, a significant humanitarian initiative, the Nations’ Missions Week, is set to distribute over 25,000 food items to vulnerable communities across Lagos.

The initiative also includes business grants and scholarships for youth and women.

Director of the Give The Nations Project, Precious Jefferson, in a press statement made available to LEADERSHIP, highlighted the broader goal of empowering individuals beyond just food relief.

“The Missions Week kickstarted on Monday across other nations. We are partnering with The Day of Salvation With Pastor Chris to accomplish our mission of reaching over 25,000 people for food relief distribution in Lagos. The Day of Salvation programme already has a structure in place, and we’re leveraging that to distribute items like bags of rice, garri, groundnut oil, and even chickens to communities in need,” Jefferson stated.

Jefferson also stressed the importance of addressing the deeper issues that affect the communities, “It is a form of support because we understand what the common man is facing at the moment. That’s why we are here—not only to provide relief items but also to offer grants for young people, businesswomen, and scholarships for students shortlisted through the Day of Salvation programme.”

Reflecting on the success of the initiative globally, Jefferson added, “Our testimonies have been phenomenal. In Pakistan, we fed over 5,000 people through the Missions Week initiative. In Rivers State, we empowered over 1,000 students with skills acquisition programmes such as baking, sewing, and more. This is what our mission is all about.”
