The Kaduna State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its members to disregard the report of an injunction stopping the state congress of the party, saying the congress will hold as scheduled on Saturday 21st September, 2024.
PDP described the report of the stoppage of the congress as the handiwork of the enemies of the party, saying that there was no change in the earlier plan to hold the congress.
In a statement on Friday night in Kaduna by the party’s State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Felix Hassan Hyat, the PDP said, “We wish to clarify the rumours going round that the scheduled PDP State Congress slated for tomorrow, 21/9/2024 has been postponed is false.”
“The party wish to categorically state that the state congress will still go on as scheduled, we call on all party men and women to disregard the rumour, as all necessary preparations for the Congress is in progress.”
Hyat added that all party officials and delegates to the state congress should come all out for the exercise on Saturday.
LEADERSHIP recalls that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday restrained the Kaduna State chapter of the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from holding the state congress and elections scheduled for Saturday pending the determination of motion on notice for interlocutory injunction brought before it.
Five aggrieved members of the party – Nura Waziri, Muntari Shuaibu, Yusuf Suleiman, Mallam Mansur Alasan and Jaafaru Abubakar had approached the court seeking an order to stop the state congress.
